Wednesday Celebration Park Ride
We leave from the NE corner of Legacy and Independence near the Dunkin Donuts at 6:00 PM to Celebration Park for loops. The route out and back is about 20 miles with a few hills and a sprint zone at the skate park in Allen. We do our best to stick together. However, as this is an evening ride, it is NOT a “no drop” ride.
Once at the park, we ride loops around the park (~5 miles each) or alternate loops (~9 miles for the first loop and 7 miles for each additional loop). We typically have two speed groups for loops around the park, however the routes are low-traffic allowing for self-paced solo loops. All riders are expected to be at the restrooms at the center of Celebration Park at a given time for the return ride. This time depends on available sunlight.
We have two routes back: Scenic (the same as the route out) and Exchange (fast with more traffic). Lights are strongly recommended. During the summer months hydration is of the utmost importance.
* Distance ranges from 20 to 42 miles depending on the amount of light and the number of loops ridden. * David Appleby typically leads a spirited warm-up at 5:30 PM. * David Appleby leads the "A" group with a rolling average of 18-20 MPH. Rolling speeds range from 15-28 MPH. Pace line skills are required. * We have an optional "B" group if 5 or more riders show with a rolling average of 16-18 MPH. Rolling speeds range from 14-25 MPH.
