The purpose of this ride is to build endurance through the season. This ride is a "drop" ride and will focus on keeping your heart rate in zone 3 (medium effort) to maximize endurance without wiping you out. (At least, that’s the plan.) The pace will average about 16 mph with travelling speeds above and below that depending upon the terrain and weather conditions. The plan is for the distances to build to two crescendos during the season; the MS150 in early May and the HH100 in late August. We will begin at between 45-50 miles on our first ride, working our way up to 75 or so before the HH100, then backing off during the fall and winter. We will have about 3 months to build up to the 75 mile goal.
Although we will have some sprint zones options, if you are looking to go fast, this is not the ride for you. If you want to build your endurance, then you have found a home.We will follow all PBA and Texas Transportation Code rules, meaning stopping at stop signs and lights, riding 2 abreast on normal roads and single file on 2 lane roads. This ride is about building a distance base; speed will be a natural result of that base.
From the very first ride, we will be looking for leaders, sweepers and short-option leaders for this ride and hope that you will step up to make this ride a permanent PBA ride.
Pace-16mph avg.
Distance-45-75, building through the season.
Feel-Comfort-wise, this will fall between Tweeners and DB Lite.
