2012-10-13 Saturday Tweeners 36.89 14.50 963 26 riders. Got to ride as a Tweener civilian for the first time in a couple of years. Mostly stayed in the back and swept when necessary. Couldn't help myself on a couple of occassions and reverted into leader mode. We had a good rotation of folks up front to combat the stiff southern winds and did our typical split after the first break. Bill did an excellent job of leading the ride and kept things fun. Good ride! Speed numbers on the low side since I had to use my phone as a GPS and it doesn't stop recording when the bike does. We probably actually came in around 15.2.

2012-09-15 Joe's Last Ride 0.00 0.00 0 It's a mixed feeling to ride with Joe the last time. I can hear Joe yelling, No I AM NOT LEAVING. Joe, denial is not going to do you any good. I've learned so much from Joe. I am not sure he realizes the impact he made on the lives of others. Ok, he is not Jesus. At the 1st rest stop, Joe asked Vlad and I to lead the 1st group and to make him proud. We said Aye, Aye captain and arrived the 2nd rest stop with 19 mph average. After the 2nd rest stop, I had the honor to ride with Joe side by side all the way back to the parking lot. You will be missed, Joe. You are an excellent ride leader and a great friend. Don't enjoy your break too much because we need you.

2012-09-08 Saturday Tweeners 37.60 15.40 1,053 North wind means Little Elm. 26 riders on a cool, windy morning. Nice turns pulling up front by many. Enjoyed trying out the new sprint zone. We suffered heading north but the return was buttery.

2012-09-01 Tweener with commute 45.48 0.00 0 Some time you have it, some not so much. Felt terrible all day, guess I should have given myself and extra day after being sick this week. Thanks Jeff for dragging my sorry butt home.

2012-09-01 Saturday Tweeners 36.63 14.60 1,071 47 riders. Alot more than I expected the Saturday after the HHH. Split the group from the start and had Nick take the chase group. Needed lots of regroups early on and I think that took a toll on some folks as the overall pace of this ride was slower than normal. Add to that the later start time heat and some strong winds out of the south and it became a challenging ride for many. Bill did a good job sweeping up those who were suffering. Good pulls from many but 2 of note: had Jerry up front for the first 7 miles and got to bring the group in with Natalie at the end. Good job folks! Enjoyed socializing at Starbucks afterwards.

2012-09-01 Tweener plus commute 45.30 15.70 784 It's amazing how being off the bike for 6 days can effect you so much. Felt fine until the first rest stop, pulled fast group after the rest stop until Dublin Rd...then the fast group blew me up! Several of us faster regulars not having good days today and rode together until Gil & I cut off a bit early to head to the house.

2012-08-25 Rainy Tweener Ride 36.00 15.90 784 Surprised that we had about 20 show up for Tweeners...then it started raining before we got started. Waited under cover for a few minutes waiting for the rain to pass. After about 15 minutes, the rain passed and we decided to head out with the 12 that were left. Because of the wet roads, I led a very cautious pace at the front - gliding down all hills and braking soft and early for all turns. When we got in to Allen, the skies decided to open up on us. By the time we turned south on Allen Heights, it was a pretty steady rain blowing in our face. We had to ride single-file because 1/2 the right lane was standing water. At the rest stop, we evaluated our options and decided it looked like the weather was passing us to the north, so we decided to stay on our normal path. Our ride meteorologists were correct and by the time we hit Dublin Rd, the rain was passed us again and we were on drying or dry roads the remainder of the ride. The entire group stayed together really well and despite the cautious pace, we still averaged 15.9 for the ride. And I've got to say, I enjoyed being on the front all day.

2012-08-18 "What the Hell 100" 103.34 16.30 0 Commute to the ride, do the “Tweener North” with the group, then ride the regular “Tweener route” by myself. Take a loop up though Legacy and into The Colony, check the cycle computer and loop through The Hills to make sure you will end at over 100. 103 miles later you have a ride called the “What the Hell 100” I have to be in LA next weekend when you are all riding the HHH but I will know your tired butts will feel!
Joe Rosario MAP
2012-08-18 Saturday Tweeners 38.99 15.50 1,033 26 riders. Rained overnight but the roads dried off enough to get a ride in. Took the northern route and lost a rider after about 5 miles due to a popped spoke. Winds picked up out of the ENE and made the stretch on Panther Creek hurt. Good pulls by a few and excellent direction from sweeper Bill. We had one "reversal of fortune" on Parkwood by a young man who was riding with his Dad. Tough kid! Don't believe what you hear about me trying to get some folks killed on Preston Meadow.

2012-08-18 Tweener - North Route 38.58 15.80 708 Tweener north route to avoid band activities in Allen. Good easy pace - just what I needed today. It was actually a pretty easy ride today, which is what I needed today.

2012-08-11 Tweeners with commute and long loop home 60.20 16.80 0 Fun ride, it was good to have "royalty" joining and helping on the pull for the "fast group". Very sorry about leaving two folks at the second rest area. It looked like we had everyone when we were pulling out and no one noticed. I guess I need to count heads!

2012-08-11 Saturday Tweeners 36.37 15.60 1,157 39 riders. Split from the start. No Bill. Gil and Vlad took lead group with Gutr Greg. Luis helped pull our group with Bill F. and Elizabeth sweeping. Natalie showed up early. Gil got a verbal from Steve on riding the PBA way. Tough winds out of the east made the early miles hurt. Awesome weather. Only 8 stayed in the regular Tweeners pack at the first break. East winds made Renner as fun as it can be. Good pulls from a few in the group and they did a good job of keeping everyone together. Appreciated the Muscle Milk folks handing out samples after the ride. Enjoyed beers with a few guys at Mexigo and got to catch up with Danny.

2012-08-04 Tweener, with commute and extra long hilly route home 58.90 16.80 0 Great ride in spite of the wind, thanks Richard for the monster pull into the wind on Renner, you had our little six bike group really humming along! Why do I decide to do a loop on the way home that has me going up Windhaven hill after 55 miles?
Joe Rosario MAP
2012-08-04 Saturday Tweeners 37.76 15.20 1,309 40 riders. Split the group from the start and everyone did well. Good help from Gil in both groups today and it was good to have Mark Hayes on our ride. Welcome back to the Texas heat laddie! Felt a bit cooler out there today and the wind didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. Good to chat with Bill and Andrea afterwards.

2012-07-28 Tweeners plus commute 47.90 15.90 943 Good Tweeners ride. Commuted to the ride with Gil. Pace to first rest stop was right about average. Lost Bill and his flat-prone friends though. Led the fast group from the rest stop with Gil down to Dublin...where everyone passed me like I was sitting still. The sprint down Dublin was FAST - I was trying to take it easy to make sure everyone was making it ok and Strava still said it was my 2nd fastest time. So apparently we had a FAST fast Tweener group. 2nd half of the ride we had way too many folks interested in jumping up their line. REALLY! does being 2 people ahead in line really help anything when you almost clip wheels to get there unannounced?? I drifted to the back and gave room to let them have their spots. I'm not racing and my goal is to make it home safely. Pulled back in to the parking lot next to Brent. Introduced myself and let him know that I had ridden with him and Duane on July 4th. We talked for a bit about how he was doing and his friendship with Duane. Really enjoyed getting a glimpse of their friendship on the 4th and hearing more about it from Brent. Still praying for them. Took it easy on the way home and confirmed that Communications between Tennyson and Spring Creek is open for business...but the light won't turn for a bike!

2012-07-21 37.00 0.00 0 Great ride...no problems....enjoyed quicker pace in the second half of the ride

2012-07-21 Tweener with commute 53.10 16.30 0 Fun ride today, thanks all. Good fast sprint zone, I might have pushed a bit hard there with 25 more miles yet to go at that point. Only part that marred a great ride was the odd sudden leg cramp I got a mile from home.

2012-07-21 Tweezers plus commute 52.10 16.20 1 Large Tweeners group. Surprised at how many went with the fast group after the first rest stop. Really quick pace for the group to the 2nd rest stop. Good commute home with Gil

2012-07-21 Saturday Tweeners 36.63 15.60 1,203 Knew it was going to be a hot one but didn't really feel it until after 10AM. 37 riders. A little slow from the start since we were behind a couple of groups so we humped it once we cleared them. Great pulls from Gil, Brent and Keiko and it was good to have our leader back! Set a new PR for max speed (2,899.3 MPH). Might be time for a new bike computer...

2012-07-14 Tweeter with commute and the long way home 57.62 16.90 0 Another fun ride, good fast sprint in the second sprint zone, I think Joe had his Wheaties this morning because he set a quick pace for the first third to rest stop number one.

2012-07-14 Saturday Tweeners 36.44 15.90 1,162 Good group of 30. Everyone rode well and the split was a bit more even this week. Great help from many in the group today. Thanks to Vlad and Gil for taking the fast group out and to Bill F. for sweeping early. Enjoyed catching up with Bill after the ride.

2012-07-07 Tweener with extra to and from ride 57.35 16.50 0 Fun ride today, thanks Joe for guilting me into taking the pull with the fast group. That lasted until after a rather fast sprint in the second zone where I had the sence to let some other legs take the pull. Headed home by way of a north then southwest route that had me climbing Windhaven hill at mile 55.... Very soon a very cold beer with lunch will taste wonderful!

2012-06-30 Tweener - Fast Group 56.47 16.90 1,217 Rode up to the start with Gil. Forgot to start my computer, so my ride was probably about 2 miles longer than shown. Typical Tweener route. Went with the fast group for the first time after the first rest stop. Dropped a touch off the back down Dublin but knew I needed to save same for the extra miles. pulled for about 12 miles of the extra miles, including a wrinkle to the route to get us to Windhaven. Left the main group to head home with a trip back up Windhaven at mile 53. OUCH!

2012-06-30 Tweener with cummute and some of extra 60.35 0.00 0 Fun ride today, thanks all. Not sure why I decided to split off from the group and got up the windhaven hill....

2012-06-30 Saturday Tweeners with extra miles with some extra special friends 60.67 16.90 0 Today was special... Thank you so much! Got a new name for Joe Rosario as he paid for my lunch today... "I owe Joe" Ok it may need some work (I already owe him and Tim Elliot still extremely grateful for the house visit after the accident last year)

2012-06-23 Saturday Tweener with Windhaven add-on plus ride from home 58.90 15.40 1,312 Very nice ride this morning. Rode approx. 6 miles up to the start, normal Tweener route then the add-on (including Windhaven at mile 53) then home. A lot of strong effort from the entire group.

2012-06-02 Saturday Tweeners + 49.50 16.00 1,549 Good to have Mark Hayes in town to ride with us! We're starting to see the numbers dip slightly as the DB Rec ride gets going. We had 29 riders on a nearly perfect morning. As is tradition, Derek missed the new start time and had to catch us at the first break point. Had the normal group split at the first break point and I foolishly decided to contest the sprint in the second group. I got to the end of Dublin first but suffered greatly until the Starbucks stop. Passed Mark B on Renner as his ride was cut short by a faulty cassette. We had 13 riders go out for the extra miles and they were challenged by the surprise "locked gate" obstacles. Enjoyed food and drink at Mexigo's afterwards with Mark H.

2012-05-27 Tweeners with commute and extra long ride home 54.78 15.90 0 Fun ride in spite of the wind. Thanks everyone.

2012-05-26 Saturday Tweeners 36.52 15.00 1,386 As normal as a Tweeners ride can get. 33 riders. Old Tweeners route. Tough winds out of the south. Split the group after the first break. Suffered up Renner. Good help up front from Mark, Richard and a few others. Bill did a great job directing the group from the rear. Too pooped for extra miles. Enjoyed hanging out with folks afterwards.

2012-05-12 Saturday Tweeners - Rain Shortened 33.09 15.80 1,061 21 riders. Smaller than normal but we lost some to the Spring Century. Overcast and cool to start. Headed up to Little Elm to take advantage of the winds out of the north. At the first break point Jared declared that "rain couldn't touch him", - it started sprinkling shortly thereafter. After about 20 miles the rain had gotten heavy enough to convince us to make a beeline back to the parking lot. We ended up cutting off about 4 miles. Thanks to Jared for the help up front and to Wei for sweeping. We had a couple of new riders who did very well with the group. Everyone stayed upright and seemed to enjoy the ride. We missed you Bill!
