2013-05-11 DB2 - Allen/Lake Lavon/McK Airport 60.80 18.00 0 Group of 14 headed out on a counter clockwise route through Allen, Lake Lavon, and the McK Airport so we had lots of practice with left turns. Appreciate all the help at the back keeping it safe! Also a # of hills, so Maggie got plenty of Woo Hoos in. Picked up a friend from work along the way, and other than 1 wrong turn and detour through a neighborhood it was a smooth ride. The group broke into 2 - 3 groups on 546, regrouped by the airport, and rode into the rest stop just a DB Lite was getting ready to leave. Lots of riders out today. Headed north after the stop and was a bit slow due to the wind, but as we turned south, it was a fun ride back to the barn. Thanks to all those that helped at the front - Scott, Heinz, and Kraig in particular. It was a great day to go for a ride! Good to have Steve Rovinsky, Maggie, and Paul Hurd with us, they all rode strong.

2013-05-11 DB1 + commute 70.41 19.00 2,303 Went northeast to somewhere between Melissa and Princeton. Lots of crosswind for most of the route and we somehow missed a good long tailwind (or at least I never felt like we had one). A couple of mechanicals but otherwise uneventful. Thanks to Cyrus for leading.

2013-05-05 DB lite 47.47 18.30 988 I think Tim Must have paid the wind gods because the wind worked out perfectly. On the way out into the wind there was almost no wind but by the time we got headed home it had picked up giving us a nice tail wind. It was a great ride and strange but nice route we always seemed to be crossing or riding on the same roads over and over again it worked well. Thanks to everybody who came out another fun day on the bike with my PBA buds!

2013-05-04 DB1: Grapevine Dam and Airport 66.20 18.50 0 Few takers for DB2 today, so I went out with DB1 instead. Stayed in the pack to see how I'd feel after a long week, and we made it over to the dam in good time, other than a stop for a flat, and another for a chain caught in the rear cogs. Pushed to the front prior to the dam, and the effort brought back Friday's headache, so I eased back into the pack to the rest stop. Had a 19.4 avg at that point, and weather was great so Steve suggested an airport loop to add miles. First time around DFW on that route then back to the main loop. Wind started picking up, and we hit just about every red light going home, so the avg. dropped a bit. One more flat just before we finished, but I needed to get back, and a group went ahead since there was plenty of help to change the flat. Finished off my DB1 Trifecta, needing only a Steve led ride to do so. Fun ride, thanks Steve!

2013-05-04 The One to the Dam and Around DFW 64.58 19.00 2,246 Pretty nice ride. It started out cool, but with virtually no wind, it didn't feel too bad. We managed to hit almost every red light we came across, and when we got lucky, we had a mechanical. I even seemed to have a clothing malfunction, that enetertained many. I was concerned that we would be saddled with bad Kharma for the remainder of the year, when we broke Cardinal Rule #1: Don't drop Bike Chicks. However, the fears turned out to be unwarranted when I was reminded that what we actually did was divide the ride so that the BC with a mechanical (Darci) was well cared for and we safely escorted the other BC back to the lot. Phew! Nice to ride with friends. Thanks Steve.

2013-05-04 DB1- Grapevine Dam & DFW + more 104.52 17.60 0 I headed out at 6am to pack on miles before the ride – and boy was it cold. I’ve learned that adding miles after the group ride is difficult. It seems the winds always pick up and my motivation drops when riding alone after having such good fun with the group. I made it to SG&C with 28 miles in my bank to join up with DB1. Steve led our group to Grapevine Dam, and at the rest stop added a DFW airport loop (Yippee for me!) for some extra miles. The winds were calm, so it was hard to pass up a DFW loop which is typically very windy. Two flats and a stuck chain made the ride longer than expected for some, not counting the extra miles. By the time we ended the route at SC&C, our calm winds (less than 4mph up until 10am) had jumped to 15-20. I rode in the pace line for the entire route, and really enjoy how if keeps me engaged. I had 94 miles at SC&C with a stiff NW wind for part of my trip home, but I wrapped up my habitual Saturday century. Thanks Steve and the pace line crew

2013-05-04 DB1 to Grapevine dam and around DFW airport 65.64 18.70 0 I felt really good today, so I think my tiredness troubles are related to the vaccine shots. I have another set in 9 days, so I think I'll get the enjoyable rides in while I'm still strong. OAS Lite didn't ride today. but I was planning on DB1 anyways. I'm not thrilled about all the concrete and traffic lights on the airport route. We had two flats, a dropped chain, and some other issue which made it a longer ride. Enough to get a little sun burn after I'd taken my arm warmers off.

2013-04-27 DB1 - Celina/Weston + more 101.45 18.10 0 When the cat decided 5:30am was a good time to get up and play, I couldn't get back to sleep. A walk outside found the weather wonderful, so I took to riding the trails as a prelude to the DB1 ride. I hit SC&C with a 25 mile head start. Cyrus led our group up to Celina and Weston on a few roads new to me. Even with the harsh cross wind, our group made great time to the rest stop with a good cooperative effort from the pace line. The pace line really got rolling after that first stop. The trip to the second stop had a slight detour since the S-75 frontage road was under construction. The diversion added a bit to the ride distance so we returned to SC&C with 66 miles at a 19.9 average. With 91 miles, it was a short effort to make a Frisco loop on the way home to close the century. Thanks Cyrus and the rest of the DB1 crew – it was a great day for a great ride.

2013-04-27 DB Lite Grapevine Dam 52.04 17.10 1,181 Another fun Ride with good folks. Well Lead by Tim who was betrayed by the wind gods seems they decided that we needed the north wind early. It worked out fine though as the wind was still mostly west and was never extremely strong. As always Thanks to all who spent some time up front the wind was pretty bad at times and lots of folks are unwilling to pull even for a little bit. Another fun day on the bike with my PBA buds that wore me out before work.

2013-04-20 DB2 to Sunnyvale 56.60 17.50 0 Smaller group today, with 8 leaving the lot. Combination of the chilly start and several folks going on longer MS150 training rides I suspect. A good group though with Mary, Steve, David D., Sean, Nick (just met today) and couple of others headed out down through Rowlett to Sunnyvale. Felt good so I stayed at the front most of the day. Picked up David B on Centerville, and the ride nearly became the Raytheon ride as 4 of the 9 riders work there. Nice ride on Barnes Bridge with some hills, good rest stop, and tried a new road on the return coming North on Glenbrooke through Garland. A few stops signs, but it's a designated bike route and traffic was low, so worth trying it out versus riding Buckingham and Belt Line. Holford hill and part of the POP route, then Renner on the return. Got mixed in with an RBM ride for a while, but it all worked out. Good ride everyone!

2013-04-20 DB1 - Rockwall + more 100.86 17.20 0 Steve led 20+ riders on a trip to Rockwall. The route was new to me…well sort of, as Steve reversed a route that I had ridden with DB2 a few weeks earlier. This made most of the route seem completely new and kept me wondering where I was for most of day – but in a good way. We had one rest stop early at about 21 miles, which turned out to be a good thing. After the rest stop, I joined the pace line for the duration of the trek back to SC&C, as it's always fun to work with a good pace line crew (I missed Brian's cheering us along though). The single-up on 205 heading north to 78 was an awesome three mile run with Carlo at the point – great pull! After the ride of 60 miles or so at 19.5+, I just had to keep going as has become my norm of late. I made a loop up through Allen and then down around Collin Creek Mall before heading home to wrap up my century. Thanks Steve for the lead and to everyone else that made the first 60 miles a lot of fun. The last 40 were lonely and windy.

2013-04-20 DB1 to Rockwall + commute 58.17 18.90 0 Ride #9 for the year and finally crossed the 500-mile mark! Chilly start but got ride of my base layer a little over halfway through the ride. Ride started out pretty tame to the first rest stop (probably less than typical DB2 efforts), but ramped up pretty quickly after the break. Fun run down 205. Thanks to Steve for leading the ride! Average Power: 168W | Normalized Power: 202W [about typical DB1 ride for me) Ran 3 miles afterwards. Next ride will likely be MS150 which is going to be interesting since I haven't ridden 90 miles more than a couple of times in the past, plus have to ride 60 the following day....

2013-04-20 PBA DB2 to Sunnyvale +commute 64.40 17.40 1,800 Nice ride with Brad leading 8 of us to Sunnyvale. Enjoyed Sunnyvale much more this time than last. We passed an RBM ride on the way back up Renner and saw Becky and Gary. Got back to the lot and wanted to keep going, so rode home with my own personal lead car. Longest ride yet. Meunster here we come!

2013-04-13 The Deuce to Rowlett via Dump Hill 59.92 18.40 1,657 We had a small, but good group. The CQ was -0-, and I blamed Mary, but everyone else blamed me for scaring Mary out of the country. I really had no argument there :-( But to make up for a lousy CQ, we all stayed together the entire ride and returned with a RRP of 100%. We managed a slightly better than advertised 18.4 average. I think it was the light winds and good team work that did it, but it was probably Darrin, who pulled like a horse nearly the entire ride with everyone helping out and sharing the load on the other lane. As a leader, I did everything George taught me: Yell a lot, lead from the back, if you take a wrong turn, just claim it's a route change. Now all I have to do is figure out how to perfect the patented right side fly by. In almost 8 years in TX, today was the first time I got to see Southfork Ranch. I can die happy now. We also came across DB-1 a couple of times and from behind they were riding like an awesome peloton. They were all together in two darn good looking, straight lines. Steve would have been proud. Although it was a great ride on a beuatiful TX spring day, it was missing some Inspiration.

2013-04-13 DB1 to Fate, TX + commute 67.05 19.20 0 Ride #8 for the year! PBA DB1 Ride to Fate, TX. Legs could still feel last night's interval workout so decided to ride DB1. Had a flat (first one in a year) but was able to change it with help from the gang. Thanks to Cyrus for pumping it up using his cool frame pump. Noticed that heart rate was too low even in the pacelines so I got a good workout off the back without the draft until the break. Pace picked up right before the break and I got a good workout in. There were way too many near misses with dogs today, including a very close call. The ride back was much more spirited. Thanks to Brian for leading a great ride. Strong rides by a lot of folks. Hey John! You owe 4 people for your little $5 challenge - Vince, Robert, Ian and I all made the Parker light thanks to some strong pulls by Vince! :) Average Power: 164 watts Normalized Power: 201 watts (typical DB1 effort and much lower than the 181/224 watt effort from 2 weeks ago, even though we had a faster speed today); Ran a quick 2 miles afterwards.

2013-04-13 15 plus DB rec - 3357 80.80 16.70 0 disappointing and painful day - took 1 Tram at 1st break and then hydroco at 2nd. wrist very sore. Ct ride short by 20 mi -- failed to make the century 2h 25 min>130

2013-04-13 DB1 to Fate 66.00 18.70 0 Brian led a good ride out to Fate, and able to ride a few new roads for me. Longest ride of the year, and felt it by the end. Rode in the pace lines a few times, but for short periods, I would have blown up if I stayed in longer. Close call on 78 with an RV passing, and several dogs harassed the riders at the back, but a beautiful day to ride.

2013-04-13 DB1- Fate + more 103.20 17.50 0 Enjoyed a great day and ride with Brian and the DB1 crew out to Fate. I had not been there before, so I enjoyed the new roads. It was good fun to be back in the pace line and I spent the entire ride in the pace line. How can you not enjoy the positive coaching by Brian in the pace line? He makes it so much fun. I can’t wait to see the video! The crew made the 65 miles at slightly above a 19 average. After the ride, I looked for anyone that wanted to ride a bit longer. Knowing that with my commute, I would be over 80 miles if I went home, so I decided to go for the century. Chris Z. joined me for an extra 14 mile loop that was tough as the wind really picked up. Gone were the 1-3 mph winds we had in the morning, as by noon we were facing 13 mph winds and gusts to 20. After dropping Chris back at SC&C, I went out and rode Ridgeview end to end to close out the century. That was a hard slog as the winds picked up to 16-23 as I headed home. I sure was glad to get home and out of the wind. Thanks Chris, Brian, and the whole DB1 crew for a great day on the bike.

2013-04-06 DB1 to Sunnyvale 57.58 18.10 1,516 DB1 outmatched the wind with our pace line and we were to the break before I knew it. Then, Cyrus threw in a roller or two, and I suffered a bit but recovered in time for Ming, Parmender, Jon and Cyrus to pull me and the group most of the way home. I say most of the way because Leigh had the honors of actually pulling us home. Good to see Phil and Pat back and riding strong. Ted, a new rider, actually admitted to knowing Parmender outside of PBA and that was a first. This ride had all the ingredients of a successful ride...most importantly, we made it back safely. Thanks Cyrus!

2013-04-06 DB2 to Grapevine Dam 56.50 16.70 0 Group of 21 headed out and rode over to Children's Medical Center in Plano for a photo to celebrate it's 100th birthday. Plan was to help Mike E out on his 100 mile ride, but Gary who was riding with him ended up pulling most of the way to the dam, and thanks for the help! Very windy ride, had 1 mechanical but recovered quickly, and a few u turns that would have made Duane happy. Made it across the dam, but everyone was a bit tired. Kraig changed his rear tube at the stop, and I altered the route to reduce the headwind and miles due to the route adjustments. Horses at the front were ready to go, thanks Nathan and Darrin, but had a few stragglers so we had a number of soft pedals to keep the group together. All in all a good ride but windy, and the lower than normal average reflected that. Thanks to everyone else that helped pull - Kraig, Steve. Mary also got a new bike so watch out DB1, I think she'll be riding with them soon. Brad

2013-04-06 The Deuce to Grapevine Dam Via Children's Hosp plus commute 64.69 16.70 2,312 I knew it was going to be an intersting day. It was. Brad led with route guidance from Mike Emmons. We rode with Mike Gary Michael Wingfield, who were on a 103 mile trek to all three Children's hospitals to celebrate their 100th (103rd?) anniversary. We stopped at the one on legacy in Plano, took a few photos and rode on. At one point, Mary (remember the one with the mojo last week?) looked with anger at Kraig's tire and fear rippled through the pelton. What had he done to draw the wrath of the powerful one. No one knew. Then Kraig's tire started to wilt. He was scared! He should have been. Turned out to be a little low and he decided to ride on. Was this a mistake? As we rode, it seemed we did quite a bit of backtracking and took a few U-turns. Soem balmed Mike, but it was probably just my persepctive from the back. The view really is different back there. We continued w/out further incident until we split with the three centurians after the Dam and rode to the rest stop. Kraig had tempted fate and won. His tube lasted until the stop, when he had to change it. Luckilly, no one else angered the Powerful One and we had no more mechanicals. The wind took it's toll on everyone, except my Inspriration, riding her new steed. She rode it effortlessly in front of me all day! Yes, I was in the back all day. I call it "Sweeping," but others suggested that I was just hanging on. Thanks Brad for a fun ride.

2013-04-06 PBA DB2 to Grapevine Dam via childrens hospital 56.50 16.90 1,752 Large group today. Started out with Mike E and his century riders that were stopping at the Children's Hospitals. Nice to be part of a worthy cause if even for a bit. Very windy ride led by Brad. We lost our way a couple times, but all worked out in the end. Like my new ride...I was told to buy an uphill bike and I think I succeeded! Felt great!

2013-03-30 The Deuce to Hilly, Windy Rockwall 59.81 17.50 1,873 Tough ride today. My Moma told me they'd be days like this when I became a ride leader. My CQ was only 8% (Damn poachers on DB-1), four mechanicals (Three flats and a broken RD cable) and my RRP was far too low to calculate. I'm not even sure I made it back! then some big SUV making a left turn onto 66 decided to come across 5 1/2 lanes and try to take out Heinz. Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play? We had a somewhat hilly route to Rockwall with more than our share of single file riding in crosswinds. Unfortunately, the wind shifted around to the SW making our return a bit headwindy (Yes! This is a word!), as opposed to the promised tailwind. Even with the headwind, we were 18.0 after 30 and slowed a bit with a lot of soft pedaling, mechanicals and without the irresponsible tailwind on the return. Lots shared the load up front. I just hung out in back, like Santa Clause watching his 8 reindeer work. Rode w/my Inspiration today, but I have to warn everyone: DO NOT ANGER MARY! At one point someone asked how she was doing. Her response was, she was dead tired and needed someone, not herself, to have a mechanical. Not a mile later Michael W. had a flat. Other than her cursing Michael's tire, she road terrifically today. My days in front are numberd. Chris M was missed even though we were still ma at him for not posting two weeks ago.

2013-03-30 DB1 to Las Colinas + commute 60.49 19.10 0 Ride #6 for the year (in time to make my 2 rides/month average) and also finally passed 300 miles year-to-date. Brian led a great ride to Las Colinas and we had some strong riders in the group, especially Steve who was visitng from Wisconsin. Lesan rode strong and can do a faster ride if she wants. Just 1 mechanical (flat) which was quickly fixed. Racing my 3rd Half-Ironman next weekend in Galveston so we'll see how the "train as little as I can get away with" approach pans out. Ran a little over 2 miles after the ride. Average Power: 177W; Normalized Power: 224W - significantly harder effort for me today for a DB1 ride - this is pretty close to OAS Lite numbers (at least from last year - don't know how fast they are going this year so we'll see next month).

2013-03-30 DB1 to Las Colinas 58.63 19.10 2,346 Today's ride proved more challenging than I had planned because of management failures in the first half; however, the second half settled down and everyone worked well together. As compared to other rides this month, there seemed to be a bit less traffic, about half as many riders, and about double the temperature. Regardless, I was pleased we made it back safely. As always, thanks to Lesan and Leigh for adding both grace and skill, and thanks to those who worked hard in the pace line. Thanks to Rob for changing the one flat tire we had. And, thanks to Nick who pulled me aside after the ride to remind me that, as long as we seem to be looking for hills to climb, there is a good one just west of Preston in Prosper that hasn't seen hide nor hair of DB1 in as long as I can remember...

2013-03-30 DB2 - Rockwall + my debacle 76.31 16.50 1,873 Some would say finding a quarter at the beginning of a ride is good luck; we shall see. When Brian posted DB1 was taking on the hills, I opted for the less hilly route of DB2. Besides, I had not been out to Rockwall in a while. Little did I know Marty had some hills stashed in his route. 11 riders left the lot, and we picked up one more along the way. Life was good until just before the rest stop, when a couple of riders started falling back and one rider broke his rear derailleur cable. Stuck in his top gear he worked hard on the hills to make the rest stop just a couple of miles away. The rest stop was a welcome break for everyone to refresh before we headed directly into the wind. Marty, Kraig, Heinz, and I spent a lot of time up front, and Marty had a way of working it out such that Heinz and I seemed to be his reindeer for the into-the-wind pulls, particularly the slog across the bridge. At about 43 miles, while stopped at a traffic light, Mary commented, "I sure wish someone would have a mechanical, and it not be me." Being the gentleman that I am, I promptly had a flat tire at the other side of that same traffic intersection. With a little help from my friends, and a broken tire lever, I was soon underway with a tire certified by Marty. Shortly thereafter, two of our group opted to drop off, and a third opted off as we reached Geo Bush. The sprint up Geo Bush was a lot of fun with Heinz and me leading the way. Four of us made the turn onto Renner with enough time for a second impromptu bio-break. Rejoined by the group, Marty told Heinz and me to go ahead and take the group home as he was going to ride in with Mary. Again, being the gentleman that I am, and not wanting Mary to ride in last, I appropriately had a flat tire in front of TI, just past Collins at mile 51, just eight miles since the previous flat, and eight miles from the ride end. Kraig, Heinz, and another whose name escapes me at the moment stopped, as we set to changing my second tube. To keep life exciting, Heinz discharged my second CO2 while I still had the tire turned inside out to look for anything that might have caused a puncture. Like Marty before, I certified the tire, and speaking of Marty, he and Mary rode by so my plan was working – she would not ride in last. With Heinz’s CO2 all set, the tire inflated and promptly went flat. Extracting this tube found a puncture, and a third inspection of the tire found a piece of glass. With the glass removed, and the tire inspected a fourth time, Kraig offered his spare tube and CO2. As with the tube before, a shot of gas into the tire filled the tube which then immediately hissed out the air and went flat. Evidently, there was more than one source of puncture in the tire. Out of tubes and CO2, it was time for some SAG calls. Unfortunately, no one was available for a pick up, so Heinz offered to return after his ride to give me a lift home. For the next hour and twenty minutes, I watched ants hard at work, told fellow passing cyclist that I was okay, while I waited for Heinz. I decided that I was more frustrated at not getting to ride with the tailwind up Indy after having fought that wind so much of the day, more than I was frustrated at being stuck on the side of the ride. The former I could rectify. After Heinz graciously dropped me at home, I headed to Plano Cycle & Fitness with wheel in hand and my grocery list. I had the tire replaced, purchased four tubes, four gas cartridges, and a set of tire levers to replace the one broken earlier. (Note: Heinz and Kraig, I have your tubes and cartridges ready to pass off at our next ride encounter) Not being the type of person to leave anything incomplete or unfinished, I set out to wrap up my DB2 ride. Besides, I needed to test the new tire and tube. I trekked back to TI on Renner, battling that confounded south wind on Indy. However, I did finally get to enjoy that same wind as it pushed me back to SC&C to "finish" my DB2 ride. So I had to ride more than 20 miles to close out that last eight – it was worth it. Remember that quarter? It doesn't mean much this weekend. What matters is that He is risen.

2013-03-30 PBA DB2 to Rockwall 59.90 17.30 1,671 Long tough ride to Rockwall...was trying out a new bike and had ridden a lot this week. Felt good until about mile 40 and then died. "Ask and you shall receive" has never been delivered as quickly as today. Michael I am soo sorry for your tire issues! I was only trying to point out that I needed a break! 2013-03-30 db lite easter ride 52.30 17.60 1,309 Went out with DB lite we headed over the grapevine dam on a mostly nice route. As always Tim did a good job leading us and the ride was very fun the temps were nice and the wind was not terrible. I did have another flat my fault most likely as I used the old tube when I changed tires. I'm guessing it had a weak spot on it from the hole in the old tire. We did find out that old Denton road after the toll way is not a very good road lots of patches that did not work over many large cracks a good stretch of road to avoid. As always another fun day on the bike with my PBA Buds Thanks guys!

2013-03-17 DB1 to DFW Airport + commute 57.66 18.50 0 First ride in 3 weeks (and first one for March) so I'm back to my once per month average. Allergies and bronchitis got the better of me the last couple of weeks. I'm just glad to be able to ride somewhat normal (though I was pretty tired when I got home). Been so long I even forgot to start my Garmin until we were 9 miles into the ride. Cyrus lead a good ride and I liked the route (except for the section with the bad cracks left and right). Need to be more consistent the next couple of weeks as the Texas Ironman 70.3 (half-Ironman distance) race is coming up quick (first weekend of April)! Can't believe it was almost 80F by noon but managed to convince myself to do a short 3-mile run afterwards. Average Power: 174W ;Normalized Power: 210W - was missing 9 miles at the start so numbers were probably a little higher as we weren't pushing as hard early. Also spent some time up front near the end.

2013-03-16 DB1 - East side of DFW + commute 63.76 18.00 0 A large group gathered for the trip toward DFW. Some showed plenty of skin on the promise of warming temps while others, like me, were covered. I can always shed layers if I have them, but I can’t put a layer on if I don’t have it. The ride start was interesting as Steve took the pack out while six of us, all who were there plenty early for the start, had to wait for the sign-in clipboard to make its rounds. I never knew you could get dropped at the start of the ride, and one of the six left behind was our ride leader – go figure. We had to sprint to catch the group, and thankfully they got stopped at the Preston road traffic light or we may never have seen them again. The rest stop was grand and able to accommodate our big group, and provided the opportunity to shed all the warmers. It was a nice ride back with the tailwind and a warm sun.

2013-03-16 DB1 to Las Colinas 56.95 18.30 1,535 34 rode out to Las Colinas and back under Cyrus' good direction. Our excellent participation in the pace line made a meal out of the wind. Thanks to Lesan, Darci and Leigh for continuing to add much needed class to our motley crew. Lesan, in fact, was in every rotation of the pace line. I'll remember Rochelle/Riverside...what a great road with the SW wind at our back. Several requested, both during and after the ride, that we not pass up another opportunity to ascend Northgate from Beltline. Surely, an aspiring DB1 Ride Leader of the Month will remember that request... Thanks, Cyrus!

2013-03-16 The Deuce to the Hills of Las Colinas plus commute 62.52 17.80 2,204 We had about 15, it's really hard to say. We added some, dropped some and generally were confused. We had a CQ of about 7%, but it was 100% in my book, and the CRP was 100%, so it was Inspirational and an unmitigated success. The intention of the route was to ride some less familiar roads, hit some hills and try to hide as much as possible from the wind. Two out of three isn't too bad, but based on the comments, there was at least one hill in Las Colinas that we didn't hit. My apologies, I'll try better next time. The group was terrific on the hill up to McArthur. I thought about calling for a repeat, but the McArthur hill immediately after the rest stop was close to causing a mutiny. I figured it was no time to press my luck. I'd like to commend the folks who did work but there were a ton. Heinz and Danny really stood out. I just sat in the back and was pulled around all day. This ride log would not be complete unless I mentioned that Sean turned 50 today. I would also like to call out Chris, who shall from now on be known as "Snoop Dog." Chris, I mean Snoop Dog, failed to show and shall live in the ignominy that his actions hath wrought from now on.

2013-03-16 DB1 Eastside of airport 57.00 18.90 1,594 First day back after ski trip. Felt good most of the ride. Got dropped on some climbs and at the end. Some quad cramps at the end too.

2013-03-16 PBA DB2 Las Colinas 54.60 17.70 2,047 Fantastic ride led by my truly to and through the hills of Las Colinas. My best ride with DB2, as I felt strong and stayed with the group without lagging at the end. Thought about taking the 5 mile detour to miss the hills, but the promised naked women waiting didn't interest me at all, so I braved the hills. Maybe next time there will be naked men waiting? Thanks to everyone who pulled. Great day. Missed Snoop Dog.

2013-03-16 DB1 Airport/Royal Lane 57.20 18.00 0 2nd ride with DB1, and felt stronger this go around. Windy day, and ended up towards the front when the group left, so I joined in the pace line until we crossed 35 or there abouts. Slipped to the back for a while and didn't like it, so after the break made sure to stay near the front the rest of the ride. Joined the pace line again on Royal and up Hillcrest. Cyrus led a good ride, so I just need a Steve led ride to complete the trifecta. Good to see Lesan, Darci, Larry, and co-worker David D on the ride among others.

2013-03-09 The One to WRL w/ Steve 56.08 18.00 2,004 Swept for Steve today. He offered me a what I thought was a great deal, but it turned out I was the sap. I ended up feeling like an underpaid domestique. Otherwise it was a great ride. I sat at or off the back enjoying watching Leigh, Nick, Steve, Lesan and a few others work up front. :-) Steve's route included almost every RED light in SE Plano and Dallas. So sitting in the back also meant I had the opportunity to enjoy interval hell: good training, when I wasn't changing tubes. Welcome to the PBA to David from England, a small town in far east Texas, Strong rider, but don't yell, "glass" near him: he'll sprint up expecting you to hand him a pint ;-) Bill, I think this is a man after your own heart. Thanks Steve for the fun ride, and, awesome bike Nick!

2013-03-09 DB1 – White Rock Lake + commute 64.21 17.00 0 I was torn between riding DB1 & DB2 today since I didn’t feel 100%. I finally opted to ride DB1 since DB2 was following the same route. If I needed to fall back, I would join up with DB2. But these plans went bust (that is foreshadowing) in a hurry. We had a flat in the parking lot before leaving. Then, 10 miles down the road, we had a second flat and I watched as DB2 went riding past us. Finally, we had another flat less than two miles after the second flat. We eventually arrived at the rest stop just as DB2 departed. The trip back was fraught with red lights that either stopped our group or split the group. I don’t think we ever made two complete rotations in the pace line without getting caught at a light or having the group split, requiring a wait for the riders back. It turned into a good exercise of hurry up and wait, but it was a good day to ride with a great team.
