Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Hiatus

 | Published on 3/13/2020

Dear PBA Friends,

The Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has touched the lives and businesses of our friends and colleagues across the globe. My deepest sympathy goes out to those affected.

As the global situation evolves daily, the safety of the community and our PBA members, families and friends, is of utmost concern.

And, as the largest bike club in North Texas, we know it’s our duty to keep our cycling community and the communities we live, work and play in, safe. Considering this responsibility, the Plano Bicycle Association has decided to suspend all PBA organized group rides and organized bike education events for the next Seven Days, ending on March 21, 2020 unless extended. We will revisit the decision at that time to determine next steps.

This decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat and our ability to ensure that our community does not contribute to spread of the pandemic.  My primary duty to you, our members, is safety.

There is a lot of information available on COVID-19 right now, but we also know, we don’t have all the information. The next few weeks we should know a lot more. In the meantime, we believe this is the best decision we can make today, with the information we do have.

During this hiatus, we will stay in communication with local and state officials to proactively monitor the situation as it relates to the risk to our membership.  We will keep you posted as we gain more understanding through our regular social and email channels.

Our goal is to resume normal activities at the earliest possible date.

Sincerely,

Chris Christensen
President
