Sunday Destination / Breakfast Ride - Nov. 9th

Weather should be sunny and cool for the ride to McKinney. Consider dressing in layers to accommodate the cool start, then warming temperatures. Remember to bring cash and a lock for the restaurant.

Michael,

For those interested, I'll lead a 36-mile short-cut option. We will have breakfast with the group and then peal off at Pecan Orchard on the way back.

Sunday Destination / Breakfast Ride – November 9, McKinney, Texas
(Updated)

Did you know many cultures consider breakfast to be one of the three most important meals of the day?

Come join us on November 9th for the next / second Sunday Destination / Breakfast Ride and celebrate this important meal with your fellow PBA members. We will ride north to Money Magazine’s Best Place to Live – McKinney, Texas!

Our tour will start at Oak Point Park in Plano – site of the recent PBA Picnic. The route will head west and north through Plano, Frisco, and McKinney. The breakfast stop will be Bill Smith’s Café on University Drive in McKinney, Texas. Bill Smith has been serving the area for over 50 years, and like 50 years ago Bill Smith does not take credit cards – CASH ONLY! They seemed excited to have us and should be able to better accommodate a larger group than the smaller restaurants on the Square. We will return past the McKinney Square, through Fairview, and back to Plano. I’ve modified the route to include the famous / infamous Dublin Road – home of a camel, donkey, and a ticket writing sheriff. We will need to be on our best PBA behavior and have EVERYONE come to a complete stop at each stop sign. We'll return home on Los Rios to add a bit of spice to our breakfast ride.

When: Sunday, November 9 – 8:00 am. Typically, one Sunday a month

Where: Oak Point Park, 5901 Los Rios Blvd, Plano, TX 75074 (starting location will vary depending on destination of future rides). We will meet on the parking lot (circle) near restrooms.

Distance: 45 miles, 1,300 ft (now with 20% more Vitamin M (miles))

Please arrive at least 15 minutes early. This is a PBA ride so we will need time to register, go over the safety briefing, and call the restaurant.

About the ride:
The Sunday Destination / Breakfast Ride combines a ride to local destinations or points of interest not on a typical PBA route, and a stop at a breakfast restaurant along the way. The rides are “no drop” and the plan is to keep the distances between 30 to 45 miles and the average speed between 13 and 15 miles per hour. For this ride the journey is as important as the destination and I hope we can enjoy a casual ride with a variety of locations, neighborhoods, restaurants, scenery, topography, and camaraderie. A sense of adventure is important as we will discover routes together. While I will research routes in advance, do expect a wrong turn or three. I look forward to your feedback after each ride to improve the routes. Depending on the destination, the starting location might be someplace other than the Coit and Spring Creek / PBA parking lot so please note the starting location for each ride.
