PBA Ride Rules

PBA Ride Rules
A goal of the PBA is to increase the enjoyment of group cycling by encouraging our members to take
responsibility for their own safety and the safety of their fellow riders. Here are some rules we think
will help. 1. We follow the instructions of the ride leader
• To hear the instructions, we do not wear any sort of headphones, earbuds, or other soundmaking
devices
• We do not ride “off the front” of the ride leader (generally out of sight or hearing)
- unless we have informed the ride leader, and
- the ride leader agrees, and
- we know the ride route, and
- we have agreed upon a re-group point 2. We keep the ride leader informed
• If riders have to stop or slow down, then word is passed forward to the ride leader Read More...

Riding in a Pace line

Riding in a Pace Line A ‘pace line’ is a tight group of riders that follow some rules to optimize efficiency. The group achieves a much
greater speed than a single rider with the same effort. It does require that all riders are in roughly the same shape.
Small differences can be compensated by letting stronger riders spend more time in front, which takes the most
strength because they are the only ones who feel the full force of the headwind. Learn how to ride in a pace line - FULL Document

Get a load of that head tube!

BN_bike_at_the_shop_in_France Jeff_bike_from_forks

This has to be one of the largest legitimate road bikes you will ever see.  The bike builder in the picture on the left is posing in front of his Paris, France bike shop in 1974. He would need a step ladder to mount this baby! Did you know that the bike is owned (and ridden) by an ex-pro basketball player who resides in Plano, Texas? Yep, all 6 feet 9 inches of him.  I have been trying to get him to ride with the PBA. Maybe he will see these pictures and decide to come ride with us.  We will all take turns drafting behind him!

Parking at Coit and Spring Creek

The link below shows the permitted Plano Bicycle Association parking locations at Spring Creek and Coit. Please ride to the location, if possible, to conserve parking. Arrive 20 minutes early to allow time to get ready and sign-in.  Consider walking to the restaurants after the ride and be respectful of other patrons when placing bikes and moving tables. Do not lean your bike against the windows. Please replace seating when you're done.
