About Us
The Plano Bicycle Association (PBA) was started by the Parks and Rec department of the City of Plano some time in the early 1980's. It was spun off as an independent recreational bike club in the late 1980's. PBA is now an organization of more than 1300 enthusiastic recreational road cyclists committed to providing both members and guests with safe, fun, and challenging group rides. We offer a wide range of leader-led rides throughout the week, as well as special events, so that any cyclist, regardless of speed or endurance, can participate in our cycling fun and camaraderie. We are dedicated to the fostering of responsible cycling.
PBA takes pride in supporting our sport through sponsorship in BikeDFW, a DFW Metro advocacy group that works with many other groups such as the League of American Bicyclists, and local governments to foster bicycle riding in the DFW Metroplex. We are also dedicated to involvement in the larger community with donations of time and money to specific bike-related charities and events. For the past four years, the PBA has donated hundreds of bicycles to local disadvantaged youth groups. We are partners with bicycle shops in our area and have sponsorship ties with many local businesses.
It is our aim to enhance the ride experience of our members, as well as their overall club experience. Individuals may join our club for an annual membership fee of $30. Learn more about the PBA by perusing our website. Or better yet, come ride with us!
